On the flipside, environmental groups have been voicing angst that action to tackle agricultural emissions remain off the menu in the formal negotiations. Not everybody is in Dubai, though. So, we were pretty pleased with some fantastic stories that make their way into our inboxes over the past seven days. This week we have, for a change, a government in Europe (though not in Europe!) forging ahead with its plans to foster a proactive environment for the cultivated meat industry.
And on that note, a Singapore startup has scooped a multi-million-dollar seed raise, while two technology suppliers from Israel and Estonia have joined forces in an intriguing collaboration, and another two, both in the UK, have paired up to scale cell-cultivated meat production.
Big meat and dairy lobbyists have reportedly turned out in record numbers in Dubai for the climate talks, so it's no surprise to read another story that, according to the largest-ever analysis of online meat and dairy-related misinformation, a flood of conspiracy theories, junk science and aggressive pro-meat posts online are undermining a shift to more sustainable food and farming.
